2016 PARTNERS


TUSCALOOSA URBAN MISSION SUMMER OF HOPE

Tuscaloosa Urban Missions began a "Summer of Hope" program in 2016 in the McKenzie Court and Rosedale Communities. The S.D. Allen Missionaries and many volunteers led programs for the children of the communities including music time, Bible story, snack, recreation, and lots of fun times. 

 

PLUM GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH

Plum Grove Baptist held a boys camp for the summer titled "Dare to Be King." The program strives to teach young African American boys how to become men of God and make good choices. A few S.D Allen missionaries volunteered with the program and spent the summer building relationships with the guys.

MATTHEW 25 HOUSE

Matthew 25 is a ministry that serves the West End of Tuscaloosa. The missionaries helped facilitate an academic summer program. Each week the students took the kids bowling where they showed them the love of Christ. 

 

 

TUSCALOOSA URBAN MISSION MACKENZIE COURT COMMUNITY

Tuscaloosa Urban Missions has a long time relationship with the families of Mckenzie Court. The missionaries helped further those relationships by playing basketball and hosting a VBS this past summer. 

 

TUSCALOOSA URBAN MISSION ROSEDALE COMMUNITY

The Rosedale community is a new relationship for Tuscaloosa Urban Mission. The missionaries began and facilitated a summer enrichment program where they played games, hosted a bible study, and ate lunch with the kids. 

 

JESUS WAY HOMELESS SHELTER

The missionaries spent many weeks investing in the lives of the kids involved in Jesus Way’s summer program. These activities included: helping with academic work, visiting the Murphy African-American Museum, and taking kids to the movies.

TUSCALOOSA URBAN MISSION

Tuscaloosa Urban Mission has been an active ministry for four years. They facilitate a multi-housing ministry at McKenzie Court and Brookstone apartments. The missionaries hosted a Backyard Bible club at both locations to share the love of Christ with kids and their families. This program included: directing a VBS, playing basketball, and learning to braid hair. 

 

GREATER FAITH CHURCH

Greater Faith is a local church that is making a huge impact in their community. The missionaries hosted a free day care for single mothers throughout the summer.  

 

JESUS WAY HOMELESS SHELTER

TUSCALOOSA COUNTY BAPTIST ASSOCIATION

TCBA is a team of 80+ churches in Tuscaloosa County, AL, with a conviction that we can bring God greater glory by partnering together than working alone. The missionaries helped with a VBS in a multi-housing community. They also helped a local church advertise to their community for a VBS.
